Medical Exams and Diagnostics   back to top

All of our doctors have internal medicine skills and training. We offer comprehensive examinations and diagnostics. Since our pets age 5-7 times faster than humans frequent exams are recommended to prevent debilitating illnesses that shorten their lifespan.

Lab testing is done in-house when feasible to provide treatment as soon as possible. Our hospital is equipped with heated cages and oxygen for critical patients. We perform chemotherapy and intravenous fluid and nutritional therapy as needed. We consult with specialists on difficult cases. Our EKGs are interpreted by board certified cardiologists.

Immunizations for Disease Prevention   back to top

Annual wellness exams are highly recommended for younger animals while those over 5 years of age require more frequent health assessments. We tailor our vaccinations to meet your pets' needs. In some cases we evaluate vaccine titers. Our veterinarians study the latest research regarding vaccine protocols in pets. We offer "core" vaccines that all pets should receive and "non-core" vaccines that certain pets may receive based on their lifestyle. Our veterinarians will assess your pet in many ways to determine the best possible wellness program.

Parasite Control   back to top

We recommend testing your dogs for heartworms each spring. Testing in cats is available but the results are less definitive. Dogs and cats are placed on monthly preventative heartworm medications that are safe and cost effective. Deworming your outdoor pets once or twice yearly prevents poor hair coat quality and intestinal upset. Keep in mind humans (especially young children) can become infected with worms from pets. Our potent prescription dewormers are safe and fast acting and can be administered in our office or in your home.

Safe Anesthesia and Surgery   back to top

To minimize risks associated with anesthesia we perform preoperative blood work to assess liver and kidney function and check for anemia or other bone marrow dysfunction prior to the procedure. Routine spays and neuters and non-elective surgery patients are given pain relievers and anxiety reducing drugs prior to anesthesia. Safe, short acting gas anesthesia is used during surgical procedures which results in fast recovery times. Animals under anesthesia are kept warm and monitored closely at all times by a Certified Veterinary Technician using state of the art equipment.

Comprehensive Dental Care   back to top

Dental disease (tartar, gingivitis and loose teeth) can lessen your pet's quality of life and longevity. Almost all dogs and cats older than 3 years of age have enough plaque to warrant a dental cleaning. Severe dental disease may result in drooling, pain on chewing, anorexia, or bad breath. Some animals, especially cats, are reluctant to play and sleep more than usual. Dental infections left untreated can weaken your pet's kidneys, liver and heart.

Geriatric Medicine and Wellness   back to top

Pets are living longer thanks to new diagnostic equipment as well as better diets and pharmaceuticals. We recommend an examination every 6 months for pets older than 5 years so that old age illnesses and common problems in senior pets can be detected early.

Older animals often sleep more, eat less, urinate more frequently, drink more water, have bad breath, are slow to rise or stiff after exercise and pant. These may be signs of a serious debilitating illness that can be treated effectively in its early stages. We offer comprehensive wellness packages which include blood and urine tests, radiographs, glaucoma screening, and cardiac evaluation tests at a discount.

Pain Management   back to top

Pain control speeds recovery from trauma or surgery and increases longevity in pets with debilitating, painful diseases such as cancer. We send our surgery patients home on pain relievers and encourage their regular use in animals with joint disease. We tailor a pain management program to meet your pet's needs.

Special Services   back to top

We understand that our clients might have an unexpected emergency after we close. To find out how to contact our on call veterinarian please call our office.

In the event you are unable to drive your pet to the clinic or prefer the convenience and comfort of an in-home exam, treatment or euthanasia we make daytime house calls in the Bozeman and Belgrade area. These appointments should be made in advance to ensure a doctor's availability.

Pets can be dropped off and left for a few hours or for the day with advance notice. A fee will be charged for this service. With advance notice, we can also pick up or drop off your pet to many Bozeman locations.

Boarding and Bathing   back to top

Hospitalized animals have priority when it comes to our pet accommodations. We do offer boarding and recommend you make your reservation well in advance. Our boarders receive lots of special attention from our staff. Should your animals have special needs please provide their food or medication. A boarding check-in sheet will be required at check-in or can be printed at home for dogs or cats.

Boarders must be current on their immunizations and free of parasites. We gladly vaccinate pets the day they arrive. We provide comfortable clean bedding and a high quality diet in a climate controlled environment. Discounted bathing is available the day prior to going home. Prearranged pick up times are available on weekends.
